Location: Burns Harbor, IN
  
Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Department Administrator position in it's Steel Producing Division located at the Burns Harbor, Indiana Plant.   
  
Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between Steel, Human Resources, Labor Relations, & Payroll departments in matters concerning employees, payroll, & special projects.  

  • Process & oversee hourly & salaried payroll in conjunction with hourly clerical technicians: review & approve payments; investigate & correct discrepancies; coach & support hourly clerical timekeepers; audit, track, & report attendance, overtime, & vacation usage. 

  • Train hourly clerical staff & fill-in for vacancies as needed  

  • Coordinate & document intra/interdepartmental personnel changes (demotions, promotions, transfers, etc.).

  • Keep track of internal and plant wide bids 

  • Submit & track IT access, equipment, & service requests 

  • Order non-operating supplies.

  • Responsible for the administration, posting, communication and coordination of company and department policies. 

  • Assist and support various area managers.  

  • Process monthly reports such as layered audits and safety observations.  

  • Other duties as assigned.

  
Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma. 

  • Administrative or executive assistant experience. 

  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint. 

  • Minimum of 5 years work experience 

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills, be self-motivated and detail oriented 

  • Must be a team player with the ability to multi-task at an advanced level 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, a professional demeanor and presentation. 

  
Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Associate’s Degree 

  • Knowledge of HR and LR policies  

  • Office experience within an industrial unionized environment
