Location: Forbes, MN
Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for a Senior Accountant at our Forbes, Minnesota location. The Senior Accountant is responsible for compiling, analyzing, and reporting operational results; developing budgets and forecasts; and supporting capital reporting and analysis. The Senior Accountant participates in monthly close activities, including preparing and recording journal entries, logging production and operating statistics, and completing assigned account reconciliations. This position collaborates closely with various departments and operational teams and must demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Summary of Responsibilities
Prepare and deliver performance reports, including analysis of operational and financial KPI’s on a weekly and monthly basis. This requires regular communication with maintenance and operations personnel to track spending amounts and timing.
Develop budgets and forecasts, including cost, production and capital. Participates in forecast analysis and presentation.
Performs assigned month-end accounting activities, including accruals, allocations, production statistics, reporting, analysis and account reconciliations.
Participate in capital project development by providing analysis of cost and production impacts. Monitor and report on capital projects through completion.
Provide information and support for internal and external audits and tax preparation.
Perform ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects as requested.
Identify and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Actively seeks opportunities to improve site efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills.
Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines, goal oriented.
Proficiency in translating complex information into understandable reports.
Attention to detail.
Take initiative, professional curiosity, and drive to understand the business.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in public accounting and/or private industry with knowledge of accounting and finance.
The salary range for this role is $90,000-$110,000. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
