Cleveland-Cliffs, Michigan Operations, has an immediate opportunity for a Mine Planning Engineer at our Tilden Mine site. This individual will be primarily responsible for drill and blast design, infrastructure and project planning, reconciliation, and operations support engineering.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Design blast patterns for efficient fragmentation.
- Engineer and design pit infrastructure including roads, pumping, and electrical distribution.
- Perform reconciliation and reporting/analysis of actual performance to plan, including for drilling and blasting activities.
- Support mine operations department with engineering and design of various projects, as needed.
- Consider mine safety, quality, environmental, equipment constraints, and scheduling in designs and plans.
- Work with mine operations to understand operational constraints or limitations and recommend best practices.
- Work with other team members to understand workflows and priorities and provide required designs/plans for safe and efficient plan execution.
- Identify opportunities for improvements in the department and operation overall, in existing plans and designs, execution, systems, tools, etc.
- Other related duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum B.S. Mining Engineering or equivalent degree required.
- Minimum 5 years of engineering (or similar) experience in an open pit mining environment.
- High degree of computer literacy, including proficiency with mine design software.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Vulcan preferred.
